Government to undergo a course of study which cannot be completed within the ordinary period of leave or which occup-
ies a material part of the ordinary period of leave, an
extension of leave on full or half salary may be granted at
the discretion of the Governor.
(2) An officer, who, with the permission of the Governor, has undergone a course of study may be allowed such refund
as the Governor may deem proper from Government Funds of the
whole or a portion of the fees and reasonable expenses incur-
red in connection with the said course of study.
(3) Every officer to whom leave is granted under paragraph
(1) will be required to sign an undertaking to refund all
salary received during the period of extended leave and all moneys paid by Government in connection with the course of
study, in the event of his leaving the Service of this Govern-
ment within three years of the receipt thereof, except on
transfer to another Colony.
B. OFFICERS ON THE PERMANENT ESTABLISHMENT
WHO ARE DOMICILED IN EUROPE, CANADA,
AUSTRALASIA AND SOUTH AFRICA.
(1) FULL PAY LEAVE.
11.(1) An officer of this class may be granted leave on
full salary at the rate of three days' leave for every sixteen
days' resident service and such leave will ordinarily be
granted after periods of four years' resident service; but
officers who have attained the age of 45 and completed 20
years in the Hong Kong Government Service may thereafter be
granted leave on full salary at the rate of one day's leave
for every four days' resident service and such leave will
ordinarily be granted after periods of three years' resident
service.
